Applethwaite is located 1 mile from Keswick, which has so many great pubs, restaurants, shops, parks and visitor attractions and Derwentwater, the Queen of the English Lakes. You can walk directly from the cottage up Skiddaw and Latrigg, and The Pheasant Inn is only a 15 minute walk.
