Description of Sandcastles
In a glorious position with panoramic views extending over the rooftops to St Michael's Mount and far across Mounts Bay towards Newlyn and Penzance, this spacious, individually designed detached house is tucked away in a secluded corner of the ancient market town of Marazion. With reversed accommodation to take full advantage of the sweeping views, Sandcastles is in a quiet yet central position just a short stroll from the nearby shops and restaurants, the glorious sandy beach and the cobbled causeway leading to St Michael's Mount.
Approached from its own garage where there is parking for one large car, half a dozen steps lead down to the front door opening into a useful entrance lobby with a practical quarry tiled floor, integral door to the garage and ample space for beachgear. An inner hallway with a solid ash floor gives access to three bright and cheerful ground floor bedrooms, one en-suite, and a good sized family bathroom W.C. with hand basin and shower over the bath.
There is a double bedroom at the front of the property, a master bedroom with a 5ft Victorian brass bed and en-suite wet room with shower W.C. and hand basin and the third bedroom with versatile 3ft solid pine stakka beds that can be made up as a single bed or two low twin beds. The latter two bedrooms overlook the walled garden and catch a glimpse of the castle atop St Michael's Mount.
From the hall, carpeted stairs lead up to the first floor and a light and airy open plan living room with a sunny Mediterranean feel, attractive mural on the wall, wooden ash flooring and extensive sea views. There is a smartly fitted kitchen with adjacent dining area, an ornamental fireplace and comfortable lounge seating arranged before a picture window enjoying far reaching views of the coastline. From here, French Windows lead out to a railed balcony with wonderful views of St Michael's Mount and the bay over the old rooftops of Marazion.
The owner reserves the top floor as a store room. At the rear of the property, a small walled and gated garden benefits from the mid-morning and evening sun and has a paved terrace set beneath a pergola, little area of lawn and a useful outside tap for when returning from the beach. The large, well maintained, memorial gardens adjacent to the property provide an additional quiet outside space for picnics and recreation.
The splendid sandy beaches are only a 2 minute walk down the hill as are a selection of local shops, restaurants, pubs and art galleries. The RSPB Marazion Marsh Nature Reserve is favoured by birdwatchers and the famous attraction of St Michael's Mount can be reached on foot over a causeway at low tide, or by foot ferry at high tide. There is a local bus route that connects to the shopping town of Penzance, 3 miles, where there is a railway station and a regular helicopter and ferry service to the Isles of Scilly.
