Wansfell Tower Court was once a training school for clergy in the 1920s but has been carefully converted in recent times to create a handful of quality apartments whilst retaining the interesting architectural features of the building itself. A level stroll of less than 5 minutes will bring you into Ambleside, a rather cosmopolitan resort these days, awash with cafes, bars, restaurants and retail outlets ranging from outdoor ware to individual galleries of art and crafts. But there is so much to sample in Ambleside aside from eating and shopping, the village having some excellent recreational facilities of bowling, pitch and put and tennis as well as superb fell walking for all abilities.
