Description of Yan Yak
A most charming character cottage situated in the village of High Lorton and fully refurbished in 2011. It may sound like a large furry mountain animal, but Yan Yak is actually Cumbrian dialect for One Oak. It has and interesting history, originally part of the very first Jennings Brewery and dates back to the turn of the 19th Century. in 1875 the brewery relocated to Cockermouth and continues brewing real ale to this day - daily tours of the brewery are available. Buttermere, Loweswater and Crummock are nearby, a peaceful corner of the English Lakes with unspoilt scenery. The village has a popular pub/restaurant plus a good hotel/restaurant and Cockermouth is 3 miles away with many amenities.
